But remember, it’s normal for your toddler to experience changes in their sleep habits.

At this age, toddlers are experiencing significant developments. And there may be changes happening in their lives that impact sleep, for example, a new sibling, starting nursery, or even potty training. However, rest assured, your child is perfectly capable of sleeping through the night.

The key for your little one involves a few simple changes to their daytime routine and bedtime. With evidence-based strategies, your child can achieve long stretches of uninterrupted sleep within just three days.

Let me share a few strategies that could work for your little one!

STRATEGIES TO TRY:

So, if you want to unlock your child’s ideal strategy and get them sleeping within 3 days, I can help you create a gentle and personalised sleeping plan that works for your family.

STRATEGY ONE:

Avoid screens (TV, tablets, phones) for at least an hour before bedtime, as the blue light can interfere with sleep.

STRATEGY TWO:

Create space for some ‘connection time’:

Allow some time between dinner and the start of your bedtime routine to connect 1:1 with your child before bed. It can be as little as 15 minutes of your undivided attention, or longer if you can.

Create a predictable bedtime routine. This will signal to your little one that it’s time to wind down. Include soothing activities such as a warm bath, a gentle massage or read them a story.

STRATEGY THREE:

Move the bedtime feed from the last step of the routine to the first. Instead of feeding your little one right before they go to sleep, do it at the beginning of the bedtime routine!

These steps typically help toddlers settle quicker and will help your toddler to sleep longer at night. But of course, your child is unique, and what strategy works for one child may not work for them.
